Hi there,

Does anyone know why the sound is muted by itself?
Any knowledge so I can stop it happening in future would be appreciated thanks.

Best regards,

Hi DOSrelic Welcome to the Forum.

Do you use Skype or any other IRC program in voice mode?

Do you have the possibility to change your keyboard or it might be enough to remove the keyboard for a while to see if the problems persist.

Trouble is I am running out of ideas if you cant do the keyboard you could try re installing the touch pad drivers.

Re: Vista32 mutes own sound

Thanks mate but #1 I don't use the touchpad & #2 Vista also randomly loses the drivers that connect to my del bluetooth minimouse requiring me to reconnect so Vista can reload the drivers! I must admit I find Vista to be a terribly unreliable RAM hungry impatient OS especially when dealing with MS Office 2007 WORD which has stopped responding completely or hung!
(Obvious bad programming!)
This has required a program restart many times and sometimes even a hardboot has been necessary with IE7!
I was doubtful there was a solution as I think Vista is too persnickety for it's own good! Is Windows 7 better like XP was?
I do want to Thank You for your attention though Pooch.

You seem to be having a lot of problems, I am surprised as Vista should run quite nicely on your system. Have you considered reinstalling? This might be the best way forward.

In answer to your question Yes Windows 7 is better

Re: Vista32 mutes own sound

Well Pooch, I got my Dell with vista home basic preinstalled and upgraded to ultimate at home so perhaps it was there? How do you recommend reinstalling?
