Vista - Vista loses my sound driver

I have an Asus motherboard with onboard sound. I downloaded the audio driver from realtek and it works until I turn off the computer. When boot the computer, the audio driver is gone. It's very annoying to have to keep reinstalling the sound driver every time I start my computer.

Why is Vista uninstalling my sound driver and if I turn off automatic updates, will it stop?

Or do you have any other suggestions for keeping my sound driver active.

Any suggestions are appreciated

It would help if you would give some more info such as the mobo model and which drivers you are trying to use.

Not sure about the driver, all I have is Realtek High Definition Audio Driver under sound devices.
The problem isn't with the driver, it is with Vista installing it's own High definition audio driver (which btw doesn't work) over top of the realtek driver everytime I boot the computer. What I want to know is how to stop Vista from automatically installing it's own drivers.

Go here Guru3D - Driver Sweeper and install this program, then uninstall the Realtek drivers the normal way. Run Driver Sweeper and put a tick in the box for Realtek, click analyse, when it has finished listing click on clean. Restart your system and install the Realtek Driver Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version

Well I tried that even though I knew it wouldn't work and no it did absolutely nothing to solve the problem.

I discovered the problem is because the realtek audio driver is an unsigned device. I have tried every method I found on different forums having to deal with the issues of Vista overriding sound drivers and unsigned drivers in general and none of these methods work. So for now I am giving up.

I doubt Microsoft is going to bother fixing this issue anytime soon if ever, and by the time they do, I'll have my new computer anyway, which won't be running any Windows programs. Really, Really done with Microsoft.

One final note, since these are Vista forums, if you don't have any real solutions to the problems people are having with Vista, maybe you should just not offer any as it just wastes people's time. Or how about a bit of honesty and tell people straight up there isn't a solution.

To anyone else having the same problem, there is nothing wrong with the Realtek drivers; The drivers simply are not digitally signed, and Vista will over ride any unsigned driver upon boot up, even though the drivers Vista offers are not compatible with the hardware. If there is a fix for this problem, Microsoft and these forums alike are not going to tell you what it is. I've wasted enough time on this issue and will now get back to my life.

I doubt also that Microsoft is going to fix this problem they dont make the drivers, that is a problem for Realtek

If you would have some patience, I could probably pinpoint the answer. Problem is I need information about your computer so that I can work out what the best answer would be.

If this statement was true then the drivers would work for no one.

I hate to burst your bubble but as I said before Microsoft do not make drivers, The drivers that Vista offers.................... wait for it.......... are from Realtek

Control Panel>hardware and sound>device manager>check for ur audio items and make sure they are there and with no conflicts. may need to update drivers from this location cause it will search and even load older drivers so u dont have to every time u boot.
