| I have Windows Vista Ultimate x64 | Kj needs help I have a Gateway MX6445 i bought it back in 2006 i recently updated from xp to vista ultimate x64 when i updated it everything was ok except audio. The audio tab has a big red x above it, and when i go to the control panel it says no audio output device is installed. I have tried unistalling and rebooting and that doesnt work because it searches for the audio drives and then ask for a disk, well i dont have a disk and then it tells me it could not find the drive and to contact the manufacturer |

If so, I guess there is needed different driver. Please, give me some time to find another audio drivers. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 sp2, Solaris x64 | Re: Kj needs help Hello again Olive, Well, I suppose from your reply that you finally have the audio, is it correct? If so, I'm glad. Run As Administrator means that whenever you install software or even you want to run it, you right click on the setup and choose that command from the list of menu. That's because Vista OS ensures the validity of the programs on the computer, it is one of security functions on Vista. You can read more about this here: UAC - Windows Vista Run As Administrator Feature As to checking in the BIOS whether the audio is enabled or not... I'm not sure about it, and will you even find this option on your machine. Not every laptop has such advanced BIOS like the desktop computers have and you don't have the external audio card, do you? Most notebooks have audio cards built in on the motherboard. This option is enabled at the factory. Cheers... |
