Vista - Sound from headphones but not internal speakers

Very strange...I get sound when headphones are plugged in, but when they are not, no sound comes from the built-in computer speakers. I have had my computer for about 4 months, and the speakers worked previously; this just started within the last couple days. Any ideas?

Try a System Restore - How to. If it still doesn't work, have the laptop check as its just 4 months old, call HP to have the speakers replaced.

Hello Andejame,

Please check the following, Right click the speaker icon on the taskbar and choose the Playback Devices, the Sound window will open like this.

Check whether the speaker is working or not, click it, then click Properties, the next window will open

Make sure the Device Usage is Enabled at the bottom of the window, next click Levels tab at this window

In the Levels window make sure the PC Speaker level is set all the way to the right and the speaker is on
