Windows 64bit vent sound issues

Hello.

First time posting, so i wasn't quite sure where to post and i figured sound and audio would be a good place to post.. ok here goes.

I recently bought a new computer and have windows 64 bit home premium as my os and a Supreme FXII SoundMAX Blackhawk Sound card i use my computer for gaming and music etc and the sound is awsome, nice and clear but when i start ventrilo 3.0.5 (the client for Vista and 64 bit os's) the sound goes all wierd, distorted and crackley for just about every program except some games, I've googled and searched forums, played around in the vetrillo settings and my Sound cards settings and cannot find anything about a sound issue like this, i've tried running vent in all the difrent compatibilities ie windows 2000, windows xp sp 2 etc, have latest updates and drivers too, thanks

Re: Windows 64bit vent sound issues

I had a similar problem. The sound and my wireless usb device were sharing the same IRQ. I dumped the usb device and have had no problems since. Steve

Re: Windows 64bit vent sound issues

I went into control panel etc, to see if they had conflicting IRQ, is said there was no Conflicts.
Something i left out - when i run ventrillo and then connect to ventrillo the sound pauses for a moment then makes a loud distored beep sound and thats when the sound goes all wierd and distorted once i close vent it goes back to being clear and normal

i think it's something to do with "bass" when i got into control pannel and turn the bass down the crackling and distortion is less but it's still there

Could be something with the Codec in vent too...

Re: Windows 64bit vent sound issues

i found that vent tends to be a louder program than others, so what i would suggest is turning down the volume in the program, when you start up vent, click on your volume icon and see if the green bar meets the volume slider, if it does, it could be volume distortion from being too loud.
sort it out by opening vent and going to setup while in a channel, and adjusting the slider with the blue X next to it on the picture below.
