M-Audio Issues

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone has issues with the x64 sound drivers for the Delta series of M-Audio soundcard/hardware?
Mine keeps cutting out randomly, I think iTunes may be the most guilty (usually happens whenever I stop/pause then resume my sound dies).
Before the patch I figured out a way to get around it about 75% of the time, I would just close iTunes and any sound/media based program and re-launch them and it would work again. But now it seems that that does not work anymore :(
Any suggestions? (I have their (M-Audio's) latest drivers)

Thanks in advance :)

I've got a Delta Audiophile 2496. Decent hardware, woeful software (drivers). Having first waited literally years for 64-bit drivers, their "1.0" driver effort has been a further disappointment.

This doesn't help you at all, but I wanted to put up my hand and say you're not alone.

Thanks for the support :) I too waited about a year for x64 drivers to come out :(
Have you found any tricks for getting around the dreaded random silence?
Unfortunately if M-Audio does not fix this soon (release an updated driver that actually works for at least over 24 hours) I am going to have to switch to someone else like E-Mu etc. It's a shame that a company that makes great sound (and related) hardware for affordable prices can not make decent drivers for their products (I have not used every product or even close, just through my experience with M-Audio and their Delta series 64 bit drivers). It's extremely counter productive, and leaves those who use Vista x64 left holding the bag. IMO Vista x64 computing is THE way to go for anyone who enjoys or works in (budget) sound production, it is much cheaper than buying Apple computers and Apple related products (You can increase the power of your DAW efficiently and affordably (not being stuck with 3.5 GBs of RAM etc with x86 or paying rediculous prices for Mac hardware)).
Since M-Audio's fan base/customer base is high end consumer entry level pro, they really need to either support their products 100% or cut them from production. Half hearted drivers and support/promise on older products is just going to frustrate the end user to a point where they will never want to deal with M-Audio again (e.g. go to another company for their sound needs).
I should be ranting on the M-Audio forums forgive me :P but I really needed to get that off of my chest :zip:
Any help or suggestions (for a work around or another product that works well with Vista x64) would be greatly appreciated :)

My response to your first post was a severely cut-down version where I took out a lot of stuff about the woeful state of their software, and the fact that it's a shame that a company which makes good hardware seemingly hires work experience students to write drivers, and how they ignored several of my attempts to suggest ways to improve the drivers, and the fact that things would have to get pretty dire in that industry before I'd ever buy M-Audio again... but then I deleted 90% of it.

At this stage, I've disabled that card and I'm using a competitor's product. It was a relatively expensive learning experience, and I don't intend to lose any more energy on that company.

I regret not having any practical input which could have helped you.

Hello again! I apologize once again for the lengthy rant :P
May I ask two questions?

1) Which product/company are you using now? (How are their drivers etc)

2) Have you noticed any difference in sound since the last SP?

Thanks again :)
