detecting speakers still no sound

hey all,

i recently just got vista and i've tried everything to get my speakers to work, i have updated drivers, made sure everythings enabled and asked different web sites.

the speakers are plugged into the back green hole, they work with my ipod and are being detected in control panel and device list.

the only thing i can think of is that the rear panel is not enabled some how, does anyone know how to enable it manually?

Re: detecting speakers still no sound

you have to go into the bios and make sure that the onboard sound is enabled. i am asuming you are using the onboard sound if not than your sound card might not be vista compatable and you need a new one.

are the speakers powered or no. also check to see if the sound card is vista compatable.

Speakers are plugged into an outlet and then into my computer.

Its an onboard soundcard. Realtek, like i said though when i go into the sound properties its showing the green bar beside it moving with the music, it has a green check, it doesnt make sense to me why its not working.

Re: detecting speakers still no sound

have you tried to plug the speakers into different ports into the back of the card? maybe for some reason they don't go into the green plug.

Re: detecting speakers still no sound

Well i figured it was a faulty driver so i just reinstalled it twice and its still not working. Did it in safe mode and didnt let vista do it..

uhm i never buy soundcards i just use the motherboard one, but its my brothers old computer and it worked for him.. so i really dunno
