Vista - missing wma codec

missing wma codec

can anybody help? i have lost the abillty to rip cds in wma format with any ripper. the cds i have ripped earlier play ok but i can no longer rip new ones

In Windows Media Player, when you click the arrow on the rip tab and can select settings, is WMA listed? If not, try using the System File Checker.

Open up a command prompt as administrator, by typing cmd in the start menu, then right-clicking and selecting :run as admnistrator. Then type this:

sfc /scannow

You might need the vista dvd. If that doesn't work, try using system restore to try and undo any changes if you installed any new software and/or drivers.

does it have to be in WMA format?, restart your PC and then give it a go, if not get back to me.
