Hi I am using Windows Home Basic, when I boot up I get no sound. When I hoover over the volume mixer in the sound bar I get the message "The Audio Service is Not Running". When I open the system logs the error says Event Id:7023 Level: Error "The Windows Audio service terminated with the following the error: Windows Audio is not a valid Win32 Application." I have tried downloading a new copy of audiosrv.dll and replacing it, it still does this. I also tried a restore to the latest date I had in the system restore and that failed to work either. Finally I ran the repair from the Vista DVD and it also failed to do anything. I am using a Gateway Laptop NX570S I have also tried reinstalling sound drivers and still no luck. It is using SigmaTel Audio. Do you guys have any other ideas on how I can fix this error and get this problem solved.
