I have a Sony VAIO laptop with Windows Vista Home premium and I have a problem with my sound. When I unplug my computer from the back to move to another room I lose my sound and I have to restart my computer to get it back. Can anybody help me to stop this from happening or how to fix without restarting my computer.

I'm not sure I understand 'unplug my computer from the back' part of your post.

Please give more detail. Is this unplugging the laptop from the dockiog station ? External speakers ?

Thanks.

I'm not sure the terminology of it but I disconncted the power cored from the back of the computer. Then move my computer to the other room. Then I went to get the power cord and moved that to the other room and reconncted it to the electrical outlet and the computer. This is when I noticed no sound this has happened many times to me. I hope this is more clear. Thanks

Was this ever answered? I have the exact same problem with my sony laptop. Whenever the laptop is unplugged and running on battery power, I lose all sound. Have not been able to get the sound back on w/o restarting the machine. Any help?

Sony sometimes have really weird software installed on them, is there anything that would disable sound while running on battery power? There is no reason why sound would stop just because its not on AC power. Go to sony's website and look for your specific model of laptop and look for any sound driver updates. That is the best place to look :)
