Sound heard in headphones, but not speakers!!!

A while back, I began having problems with my sound. I would plug my headphones into my laptop (Acer 5315) and wouldn’t get any sound. The internal speakers would continue to play. So I re-installed driver. This time, I would hear sound in the headphones, but not the speakers. Once again, I would re-install the driver, the speakers would work and not the headphones. After doing this over and over again and getting the same results, I stopped trying.

Tonight, I downloaded the last driver update (Realtek HD version R2.33). And now, sound only plays from my headphones. I’ve tried just about every solution mentioned in these forums and none of them have worked. Is there anything else I can do??? I’m losing my mind! HELP ME PLEASE!!!!

Hmmm. Have you checked the sliders on the Master Volume popup ?

Double Click on the speaker in your systray. Check those sliders you see. Are any on mute ? Low volume ?

Hmm... In (Mange Audio Devices) do you have a speaker icon visible with a thick perhaps, enabled?

You also might want to try setting up your speakers in Windows Media Center?

(On the start screen, scroll to Tasks, click settings, click General, click Windows Media Center Setup, and then click Set Up Your Speakers.)

Go into device manager, and uninstall the sound driver you just installed. Reboot. Then upon boot up, Vista will find the correct driver.

Hope this helps.
