Mysterious music doesn't go away

Have I got a trojan? My laptop is taken over by some weird software and keeps playing this music (innocuous dance music,
which is not from my HD thats for sure). I dont know where it came from. My
CD tray is empty. AVG search founds nothing wrong. What is this?
I can turn the volume down.. but nohting else.

Does anyone have any suggestion what is happening here?

Go to the sounds applet in control panel and in the sound tab, make sure windows default is applied. Then look if anyone changed the settings.

Hello tomoedinburgh,
Try taking a look in Task Manager, (ctrl+alt+del), see what is running there, you may be able to spot the rouge music player in services or processes.
A haunted laptop would be a first though, woooooooooowooooooooo
Take a look and post your results, good luck.

Re: Mysterious music doesn't go away

ah, this is embarassing. I CAN"T open the task manager. I used to be able to.
Now nothing comes out when I press these keys. Whats happening to
my laptop? Is this virus? Is there anyway i can get to task manager other than
pressing the keys?

Have you installed any firefox addons, toolbars, or anything like that, they some times cause weird things to happen.

Stoney is right and one that comes to mind is foxytunes. You can launch FF without addons to check

Re: Mysterious music doesn't go away

Yes, Stoney and Ziazag, thank you, I did install new adds on for FireFox, coz I was
prompted to do so!

So... what shall I do? Shall I uninstall what? entire FF? but I liked FF until now. There must be millions of FF users out there who are going nuts shouting "whats going on?!" or is it only me in the whole world?
