Windows media player won't open / start.

So it's like this, when i click any WMP application it won't start.

I have read threads bout this problem, hoping it would solve my problem too.

I tried searching the "wmplayer.exe" or w7e it is on the search bar, on the start menu.

when i have found it, i clicked it and it gives me the same result as clicking the WMP application..

also, i have tried opening up task manager, and see if there's the "wmplayer.exe" or w7e on the processes, but it isn't there.

so i opened up the file location of the WMP, and i tried to click on the wmp setup.. *feeling like a computer technician*. then this message appeared.

"There is a more recent player of Windows Media Player (11.0.60002.18065) already installed in your computer. It is not possible to use an older installation package (11.0.60001.7000) to install files or to repair your current version of the Player"

i have no clue what to do.. i hope someone will help me out.

Thanks a lot in advance, and. GodSpeed.

You need to enter your system specs in the lower left-hand corner.
Have you installed SP2? If you have, was there problems with the installation?
What if you reinstall the player?

Personally I cant stand WMP I'd try another media player :
Audio and Video Downloads - FileHippo.com

I like aimp2 , MediaMonkey , and if you install the k-lite codec you get Media Player Classic it will be in the x86 k-lite folder.I actually fixed my Moms WMP with the k-lite codec so its up to you if you really like WMP.I always use k-lite their codecs are great and they usually have a new version every month or so.

Here is a program that will list all details of your hardware and software ( Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit ). Suggest you run it and keep the output for future reference.
You can also type MSINFO32 into the start search field and hit Enter. That will give you a lot of info too.
