Vista - Sound, but not on youtube

Hey there, for some reason I can hear sound fine from everything but youtube, i'm using a headset and i'm pretty sure all my settings are correct - any ideas?

I know they were down for maintenance for awhile.Did you try a different browser or I might just fix itself.My youtube is fine I just checked.

Follow these exact steps when you have a video playing on YouTube.


(Bottom-right corner of your screen)


Click "Open Volume Mixer"


Make sure this 'dragger' is not pulled down and that the mute button is not clicked.

After just posting my help request over no sound on flash player,(no sound on flash player (on youtube) using any browsers) I found yours here. and I noticed that after opening Volume mixer, the window only shows these two: Speakers, and Windows Sounds, i.e, while running youtube on firefox, I cannot see it there.

Is there any way to correct this ?

If you read my post out of curiosity, I should add that I logged as a standard user and I was able to see the firefox thing when I tried one of the youtube videos.

any suggestions?

Check if the sound on Youtube is not MUTE

My problem is that I cannot see the youtube icon to check if the sound is mute or not. it is not there.

How can I get those icons showing ?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling flash player and see if it reacts any different for you.

As you suggested I did un-install and then reinstall the flash player with no luck again.

Let me clarify that my intention is to learn a bit while solving my problem by finding the answers to these questions:

1. why can I hear flash player on the same laptop as a STANDARD use but not an a ADMIN user?

When we create a new user , how does it get created? How the system clone it? the confusing part it when I downgrade/upgrade SAME USER to different status (Standard vs. ADMIN), the user would or would not be able to hear musics played on flash player such as you tube.

2. About the sound device, I really wonder if it is possible to make the system recognize the flash player? the way it can recognize VLC.

Let me be clear, If you read my posts carefully already, which I would like to thank you in advance, and then you thought you knew the answer, please share your experience and expertise with me, otherwise, I would not like you to waste your time and mine typing the answers I already mentioned in my post I did it multiple times.
I might sound rude, however, I guess its only a fair request.

If your internet connection is low you will not be able to see the player itself.. check your internet usage with your internet provider.. make sure thats ok..

@Ashvin - It really bothers me when people just post without thinking.
Sir, I have mentioned I am able to watch you tube on as a standard user with the same laptop. If the speed was the problem, don't you think it should affect the standard user as well!
Now, do you have any suggestion to explain that or help me fix it?
