Sound Icon gone.......

Lower Right hand corner where the time and battery are displayed no longer has the typical "speaker" icon for sound. I can still access it threw the control panel so it is working. Anyone know how I can get the icon back on the lower right hand corner where it use to be?

I have this problem every now and then, but the icon comes back after I shut down and reboot. Have you tried that?
