Speech Recognition Turns Off When Minimized

Speeech Recognition Is Turned Off When Minimized but does hear my voice during the Mic Set Up.
1) I open Speech Recognition
2) Click on Configuration
3) Click on Improve Voice Recohnition
. At this point the Speech Window (with Listining Shown) is Minimized and
. Speech Recognition then turns OFF, and the Mic volume is reduced to Zero.
. I can not then continue with my Voice Training.
. Durning my Mic setup the system did hear my voice so it does work then.
.
Note: If I close the training program the Speech Window will return to Listining.

Any suggestions please.

I found the problem. I was trying to "Train" the computer using the "Default Speech Profile".
When training a new persons voice you can not use the default which came with the Vista software.
A new profile must be assigned. When I did start a new profile the system worked just fine.
