External Sound Card not recording

Hi,

Wondering if someone can help me. I have a miditech audiolink pro sound card that according to the documentation is Vista compatable because it uses Windows own internal drivers (unless you choose to use a low latency asio driver).

Vista has recognised the unit and added it to the device manager under control panel. I have linked up a guitar through an amp into the input. The green signal light is flashing on the miditech unit is flashin when I play the guitar showing that it is getting a signal. The gain knobs are turned up so there should be a signal going out.

I use Samplitude. The unit shows up in the samplitude audio menu. However, it doesn't pick up any sound. I have tried several other audio packages with the same result.

I have disabled the onboard soundcard in case that was causing a device conflict.

When I go into the control panel, under "device manager" the miditech card is showing as installed and working. Under drivers it is showing the following drivers installed: drmk.sys, portcls.sys, USBAudio.sys, SYSfxui.dll, WMALFXGDSP.dll.

However, when I go into the windows sound icon (the speaker) under both recording and playback it tells me no audio devices are installed. (remember I disabled the onboard sound to prevent device conflicts so that doesn't show up either).

This is a very perplexing problem. Could someone help me please.
