No audio output device is installed error..

Hey,
I just installed Vista x86 ultimate. (I downgraded from 7) and I notice the audio output device error. So, I installed Realtek drivers from Acer website, the error still appears.
I uninstalled those drivers and installed the 2010 Realtek drivers for Vista (R2.42) but nothing worked.
Oh by the way, I don't have the Sound, Video and Game Controller section on the Device Manager menu.
Help?

Here's a possible solution,
NO AUDIO OUTPUT DEVICE INSTALLED....OR RED CROSS IN BOTTOM RIGHT HAND CORNER ON VOLUME CONTROL
Let us know if that does it or not.

That solution obviously doesn't fit my situation.. I don't have the Sound, Video and Game Controller section in Device Manager (I said that on first post)...

EDIT: Well I used the Add Hardware menu and got the Sound, Video and Game Controller section with the Realtek Audio in there... but it has an exclamation mark and properties saying ''This device cannot start. (Code 10)''

No sound, nothing in the Device Manager under Sound, Video & Game Controllers but WebCam Max WDM Video Capture

No Audio Device installed...no sound, video game controllers TAB in device manager...Holla at me!

If you've got an exclamation mark now, you should right click on that and update driver.

It says that it's up to date...

See if windows audio service is running, type Services in start menu and you'll get this,
