First I have to say I am not as good with computers as I used to be. I am a DIY kinda guy and I want to try to fix this problem before paying someone to fix it for me.
Bare with me.
Computer is an HP Pavilion laptop with Vista Home.
Problems:
Windows sounds don't work (but it does make some when I turn on the computer - but then nothing).
When I watch a YouTube or Hulu video there is no sound.
When I watch an instant Netflix video sound DOES WORK. This is currently the only sound I am getting from this computer.
What I have done so far:
-Unistalled/reinstalled Adobe Flash.
-Rolled back the sound driver.
-Fiddled with all the sound settings I could find in the CP.
Also, I have reason to believe that an update did not install correctly.
Any help/ideas is appreciated. I am sick of searching the bottomless pit of information AKA the Internet.
