I'm also getting the same message but now about the "DHCP Stopped Working". I'll post the issue as soon as I get the message again.

Please somebody help me! I already tried to install codecs from various codeck packs (K-Lite, Vista, etc) but none of them worked. And I only install system updates from Microsoft Update program which is automatic on my notebook. Btw my OS is a Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit SP2 ok? Thanks in advance!

Restart the service, and you may have to reinstall your audio drivers if any.

Did you ever have any success at fixing this? I've been having the same problem for a while now. Would you be running AVG free by any chance?

Go to start type services.msc go to Windows Audio see if that is set to auto start. Start it if it has stopped.
Highlight it,Right Click.go to Properties,in the start up box set it to automatic
then press OK.

Mine is already set to automatic. The problem is something keeps killing it not that it isn't started to begin with. I poked around today and disabled AVG Free and turned on a different AV. So far, i haven't had any problems that's why i was asking earlier.

@ilikefree Okay sorry bout that.

Anyway, after about two days of not having audio die it did it again, so that rules out AVG. I haven't noticed any pattern so far. Changing the track in WMP causes it, loading videos in VLC, debugging xna projects, and loading video games. The only real thing they have in common is that they use the sound card. I'll try and be more careful about taking notes as to exactly what im doing when it crashes.

Go to Computer, Right click,Manage,expand System Tools,click Event Viewer,
Look here for error messages from the time it happened.
