VOlume control for Windows Mail

When I select the Volume Control from the toolbar, or Adjust System Volume from the Control Panel, I usually get two sliders: one for Device - Speakers and one for Applications - Windows Sounds. Sometimes however, apparently at random, I get three sliders; for example when iTunes is active I get a third slider for it.

Recently I got a third slider for Windows Mail, which was handy because at that time I happened to want the Mail notification to be quieter than other sounds, so I pushed that slider down to halfway. That made Windows Mail very quiet, which was just what I wanted on that day.

My problem is, I would like to restore the volume of my Windows Mail notification to its former level, but I can't make that third slider reappear. Can anyone suggest where I can find it?
