None of my mic's work on Vista?

I've tried 2 headsets and neither of their microphones work! I've tried everything! The microphone doesn't pop up on the 'Recording Devices' window. The only thing is 'Line In' and it says it working? I'm not entirely sure. Today, I bought a new Logitech headset (an expensive one). It still had the same problem as the other 2 headsets! I've tried everything I could think off. I really need to get a mic working on my laptop. I've tried the Logitech headset on my mum's new Window 7 laptop, and it works perfectly! I think there is something wrong with my laptop - not my mics! They all just don't pick up any sound! Please help me! :huh:

i think it's supposed to pop up 'Microphone' but it doesn't it only pops up 'Line in' like above. It also says it working, but nothings working!! :/ Please help I'm really desperate. Many thanks, sdm-s
