Limited Sound Applications

Alright. So I just bought a new headset (G35), and set it up. Installed the program required to run it (G35 Surround Sound Headset Software) And everything sounds great. But, when I load up more then one program that requires sound, it just will not work. It seems to only allow sound for one application at a time. So for an example, if I have Youtube up, and Windows Media Player. If I play music on Youtube, there will be no sound on Windows Media Player, and vice versa. Now, this example wouldn't really bug me - but as it happens in all programs (such as ventrilo, games, everything), it does get annoying. So first, I tried to update the software that came with it. Didn't work. I tried updating my sound card drivers - didn't work either. (After searching the logitech forums, I found out that the headset doesn't use my sound cards drivers. Oh well, was worth a shot.) I was also suggested that under "Sound -> Communications", there is a button which can mute/lower other applications sounds - but my Vista doesn't seem to have it. I've only got the tabs "Playback", "Recording", and "Sounds." No "Communication." So..I'm really not sure what I should do. Most of the things on my laptop are up to date. Any tips?
