No Sound With Vista TTS Speech Engine

I have exhausted my research and efforts in coming to a fix for my problem. I can't seem to hear Microsoft Anna in her preview mode. I can hear music, all system sounds etc. so I know my speakers are connected and drivers are working properly. I have checked all my system attributes and drivers and they are all fine.

When I use "Say The Time" which has a voice to say the time or I try to Preview Anna's voice I can see in the volume slider the volume articulating like if someone were talking but no sound comes out of the speaker. My speakers work for everything else so I just can't figure out why it won't play Text To Speech.

I went to a TTS web site where I could preview Anna's voice and I did hear that from the web site but I can't directly from my system.

What is the fix to this. I am sure it is something simple but I can't find any boxes to check or uncheck that are related and I can't find a way to reinstall the TTS Speech engine. I really don't want to reload the entire system. Is there another fix?

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated. :(

You should see if your sound device for your system is selected by the TTS Speech engine as things like the Speech recognition function for Vista requires that you specify the default playback device (like the sound options menu in Vista).

Yes, I know and understand what you are saying. The default playback device was the speakers and they were set. After further troubleshooting I determined that the speakers were not set properly. Apparently they were set enough to hear other sounds and music but not for speach. After configuring the speakers properly (pluggin into right jack) and testing, the voice now was heard. I didn't pay attention to what was or was not configured initially but as an example it was like the speech is directed to the front speakers and I had the rear speakers plugged in so music was heard as the music comes out of all the speakers but speech only comes out of the front. Not sure that is an accurate statement but it is the best way to explain what happend. Thanks for your input.
