Solved How do i get 5.1 on my setup!!

Hi need help trying to get dolby 5.1 running on my system,i have a sony dts,5.1 capable amp,all relevant speakers and dell dimension 9200 i bought about 4years ago,it seems to have all the right connections optical and six other inputs,my question is shouldnt i just need the optical to my amp?,have tried this but with no success,i also have powerdvd ultimate.Any ideas please!!

Have tried changing settings also.Do i need another audio card?

Welcome to the forum!:party::party:

You should be able to plug the optical cable into both the computer and the amp, open your audio control panel and change it to optical out and it should work.

If you want you could purchase a few cables like this here and run them from the different outputs from your computer to the inputs on the amp.

What is the audio control panel, for example, mine is Realtek HD audio manager.
