Vista Speech Recognition suitable for Deaf people?

Hey,

I wonder will it help Deaf people to practice with their speech while speaking on the microphone? I am speaking of those who have not spoken English words for the whole of their life and use sign language or have a small limitation of English spoken words?

I am Deaf since birth, and use sign language. I know how to speak English a bit, but I mostly could speak a small word that has one syllable. I could not speak the whole sentences, though. But, with a practice, I might would.

If yes, what kind of a microphone? I am thinking of getting the Logitech one. You know the one with a long stick, not the headset.

If no, what's about Dragon NaturallySpeaking? I am sending the same question to them and am waiting for the response for them as well.

Thanks.

Don't think Dragon will do what you want. Dragon is more for you speak, it types. If your speech is limited it may have a problem understanding you. It is able to adapt a little but don't know if it will be enough.

Thanks, and that means Vista Speech Recognition is the one, which will help me with speech? Buy a microphone and connect it up into USB, then VSR will come up and give some directions for me and I will go through with it to practice?

Thanks again.

I think there is a program that uses your camera to lip read but haven't heard of one that will pick up sign language.

Dragon can learn if you are able to spend enough time with it.
It also has the advantage of having some regional accents available.
