Hi all.
I recently acquired and set up a new 'Focusrite Saffire LE' external sound card and a pair of 'Alesis M1 Active 520' monitor speakers (which I have attatched to the sound card's outputs). I have changed my default playback device to be the 'Saffire LE' and it works, periodically. For some reason, the sound will simply stop working when I use different programs. For example, if I stop using itunes and open up some samples to check them out in windows media player, or if I stop playing a video game and start using itunes. I then find that I have to unplug the sound card and plug it back in, then reset it to be my default sound card. Otherwise there is simply no sound (or in the case of itunes the track refuses to play). It works fine with cubase and all other actual audio based software. Its just everything else I'm having problems with.
Any help would be much appreciated. I'm hoping that this is simply my lack of experience with audio hardware and not a fault with my card or speakers.
