Realtek driver R 2.57 may cause mic not to work

I downloaded and installed successfully this R 2.57 driver as Realtek High Definition Audio new available driver for Vista & Win7, this driver was not proposed yet as update by MS. Windows nr old driver: 6.0.1.5618 and Windows nr of the new installed driver: 6.0.1.6299. The old driver was removed also during this procedure, but now my Skype does not work nor connect and says "cannot access your soundcard", so the internal mic of the laptop (Acer Aspire) does not work. Positive is that the Stereo-mix works now, this feature did not work with the old driver. I use Vista Home Premium+SP2 32bit. What to do?

Either restore the old driver using system restore or by going into device manager.

Your stereo mix is a small problem, get things working, again.
☺☺☺☺☺
I made a reset to a system restore point that I have made before making the download/install of this nasty driver update and it worked perfectly. My Skype is working again now, I had a full video conversation, so that's fine, thanx.

PS. the Stereo-mix gadget doesn't work now of course like before, don't you have a clue to fix this also or is this excluded or impossible?

;)

'troubleshooter'in the search box of control panel gives no results
In 'Hardware and Sound' there is no option 'Troubleshoot audio recording' available in this version of Windows Vista Home Premium = version 6.0 (build 6002: Service Pack2) ©2007 and a pitty, Stereo-mix seems to be not available at all in Vista and disabled by default.
