Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi Skeevee,

Have you updated yout BIOS or Chipset drivers to the latest version for your motherboard? If you did, then this may be a hardware failing issue.

Try the above. If it does not help, then try a Repair Install to see if it will solve the problem if it is a problem with a file.

How to Perform a Repair Installation for Vista

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Hi Violent Ken,

I have the new 1.81 version and it shows as 6.0.1.5506 in Device Manager. You may have one of the 1.7 ?? versions. So far I have no problems with it. If you do, you can always go into Device Manager and do the Roll Back Driver option. I would go for it. It may help improve it more.

Hi Kaire,

Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers? They usually have to be install twice. Once to remove the old one, and second to install the new one.

Do you know what audio device you have? If not, post your motherboard's model number and we'll see if we can look it up for you.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Brink,

Thanks for the welcome. I have tried installing the drivers a few times and everytime it comes up with an error message. I am going to venture to say it is a realtek ALC888 HD Audio device. Like I said before I was online with Dell TS for 2hrs trying everything.

Thanks
Kaire

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Kaire,

Try double checking your audio settings in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel (Classic View). Make sure it is set properly for the type of speaker setup you have. Take a look through this to see what to check. Play with different settings to see if one will do the trick for you.

Re: New Realtek HD Audio Driver Released

Kaire,

If you do not have the Realtek HD Audio Manager ni the Control Panel in Classic View (Upper left corner), then you do not have the drivers installed from Realtek.
