Hi,

I have a Toshiba Satellite p100-400 and just installed Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

Problem is that i can't find any sound drivers for my portable. I just installed the most recent Realtek Drivers for Vista x64 (v1.79) and they still doesn't work.

I unzipped Realtek Drivers to "d:\Vista_R179" inside it as another folder with "*.\Vista_R179" in this folder we have the Setup program with all that usal stuff data, data1. etc and 2 folders "Vista" and "Vista x64". This 2 folders have the same files only difer in 2 files "hda32" and "HDART32" in folder "Vista" and "hda64" and "HDART64" in "Vista x64" folder.

I ran the Setup and all the files from "Vista x64" folder were installed in c:\program files (x86)

And by the way. The Start bar that as the Sound Devices logo, when i put the mouse over it says "No Audio Output Device is installed"

And in Device manager "Sound, video and game controllers \ Realtek High Definition Audio" it shows in device status "This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available."

But, in Device manager again when i open "System Devices \ High Definition Audio Controller" it says "This device is working properly."

Thanks

You need to make sure that the microsoft audio driver is also installed. The realtek driver won't install correctly if this isn't installed first.

It should be unarchived as part of the R179 package in one of the sub directories.

I had a "Unknow device" and a "Mass storage device" without drivers in Device Manager.

I will try to aplly a manual driver install on those with Realtek r179 package.

Anyway, if anyone with this kind of Sound problem got it working fine, please PM ou reply to this post
