    forgot my password in windows vista home premium

    I bought a laptop sony vaio with Window Vista Home Premium three weeks ago.
    I forgot my password (Master account) but I thing that I still remember the Administrator password.
    When I turn on laptop I see only my account (Master account). How can I change to Administrator acccount on boot up ?
    Please help !

    Hi dnguyen2007,

    Welcome to Vista Forums.

    When you say "Master Account", do you mean the built-in Administrator account or some other account?

    In the mean time, you can find a solution for resetting the password to gain access here.

    Same problem.

    What all these solutions seem to miss is an actual solution. If we can't log in and can't see the Administrator part on the welcome screen, we obviously can't use a command prompt!

    Are you able to boot into Safe Mode?

    Can anyone help me, my son set up his account as an administrator and "forgot" the password, he was the only one with adm priviledges, I tried a recover disk and to enable the administrator when i reboot it shows his account log on and guest, when i try totype in the password my disk claims i reset it doesnt work? and as a guest i cant get onto much i get stuck in "run as admin" rrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! help!!!!!!!!111

    Hi Bettyboop,

    Have you tried Method Three here? If he is completely locked out of his computer, he will need to do this on another computer to use on his. If all else fails, he can boot from the Vista installation DVD and reinstall, but he will lose anything that was not backed up.
