Block UAC prompts for certain programs

I have a Seagate FreeAgent backup drive and i'm using the real-time backup software that came with (works very well). The annoyance is that any time the machine reboots, these programs are set by design and choice to launch, BUT the UAC prompt comes up asking for permission for each of the two associated programs....

I'm sure i've seen a tutorial on this but i just can't find it. How do i turn off the UAC warning for just these specific applications?

Thanks,
Murphy

You can try the MSCONFIG and under the General TAB, you will notice that the Radio Button is selected on the selective startup. Make it normal startup and that should fix the problem.

Hi Murphy,

This is a hit and miss type situation for what program it may work on, but you might give it a try to see if it will work for you.

Re: Block UAC prompts for certain programs

Thanks for your reply!
I've found this
Quote:
UAC wasn't designed to remember your choice of elevation and if you run programs that require elevation on a daily basis, the prompts can become annoying. There is a setting you can do that will reduce the number elevation prompts : right click on the application you wish to elevate , click on Properties and under the "Compatibility" tab you will see a checkbox with "Run this program as an administrator". This option is not available for administrative tools.
and so I've tried it.
In my case my exe file is in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\WDBtnMgr.exe, and it seems to work.......at first reboot Iwas not ask for any permission....
I'll see next time

Hi all, I just tried this with Spybot-S&D.

Still got a prompt. I even tried it with a full logoff and restart
to no avail, but I will keep trying as the opportunities present themselves. It's worth a try!

I hope you figure it out dustinfrank later Ted
