Hello again Vista forums.. once again I have a question,
Whats the Best Anti-virus or whats the best Security Suite for Vista.. i actually have 32bit.. not 64, but since I'm already a member here please help anyways.. so I got 32bit.. ok. Should i get an antivirus and leave it at that.. or should I get a Security Suite.??? I had norton when I got my PC new and I totally didn't like it.. not at all. it was slow, sluggish. I just wasn't a fan.. so I got a trial of Kaspersky.. honestly I liked Kaspersky.. it seemed to work well, very fast, very user freindly, let me customize any and all scans and updates.. everything. I liked it.. but after a few months my internet stopped working.. after over a week of nothing fixing it someone here in vistax64 told me Kaspersky has been causing problems with Vista.. so I uninstalled and There you have it. My Internet works.. so my problem now is I need a security suite or an antivirus and I want everyones opinion on whats best. what should I use, a suite or just a antivirus.. money and price doesn't matter I'm concidering giving Kaspersky another shot because it was so nice, but don't want to have problems again. Other than that I've been told to totally go with NOD32.. if anyone could please give me there thoughts ASAP i would appreciate it.. Thanks /Cory |

Personally, I use a combination of software for protection. My main program is Live OneCare by Microsoft. It combines virus and evilware protection into one package, plus maintenance utilities. Your annual subscription includes up to 3 PC's. You can download an evaluation version here: Windows Live OneCare - Home AVG anti-virus is also recommended. Download that one here: AVG Free Advisor - Free antivirus and anti-spyware downloads For spyware and other evilware I use two types. Spyware Doctor and Spy Bot Search & Destory. You can get them here: Spyware Doctor - Best Spyware Removal. Free Trial Download. The home of Spybot-S&D! I also use a few other maintenance utilities to keep things running smooth. Check them out as well: Eusing Free Registry Cleaner: Safely scan and repair registry problems - Spyware FREE. Auslogics - Download Auslogics Registry Defrag Auslogics - Download Auslogics Disk Defrag I hope this helps. Last edited by .Joe; 03-29-2008 at 03:19 AM. |

Wow thats a pretty overall list of things Joe, thanks I appreciate it. Although I already have SpybotS&D, and Spyware Doctor. I do registry cleaners and defrags also.. and I don't want to use something like avast or AVG becuase I don't want to use a free anti virus program, I want to pay for a nice top of the line one that will give me the best protection.. or are you saying the mix ur using is better than Kaspersky or anything of that sort..??
Thanks for ur input, but I was hoping to get some idea's or input on people that have, use, or know of whats the best thing for a Anti-virus or for a Internet Security Suite. Because thats what I'm looking for at the moment.. Thanks again.. Anyone else have some thoughts feel frreeee to Share please! |

Antivirus : Kaspersky AV 7 if you have a decent enough machine , otherwise het NOD32.
Security Suite : Kaspersky Internet Security (comes with AV and Firewall) or you can use KAV/NOD32 and use a decent firewall like Comodo/Outpost. Hope this helps. |

I use Live OneCare 2.0, combined with Spyware Blaster 4.0 on my system. Live OneCare 2.0 doesn't use a boatload of resources like some Security Suites do.

Thanks for the input peoples.. I actually looked and found that BitDefender ranked in top 3 in a few reviews, and 1st in 2 reviews so I got BitDefender AV 2008. and to be honest I didn't like it, seems cheaply made, is really simple, but not in a good way, more plain than simple. so I wouldn't say it's that easy to use, I just overall am not liking it, it's not for me. I'm going to just go with NOD32, I'm going to try the trial and probably buy it after the 3 months is up. I had kaspersky AV for a little while and i actually really liked it. BUT, it had some compatibility issues with Vista and was causing internet connection to fail, always.. someone in this forum site mentioned that kaspersky could be my problem, (thats when I didn't kno) and after I uninstalled booya, I had internet. so ya I would like to use Kasper, but I'm going to give nod32 a try, everyone seems to give it great great reviews.. so thank you all for your help, and whats a good firewall. should I buy one or get the free ones, or is that a bad idea just like it's a bad idea to use avast or a free AV. I need a firewall and don't kno much about that area... thanks again everyone..

Nope None at all....
And I haven't run an antivirus for about 6 years now. I am very careful about what I click on...it's really as simple as that. Any new Viruses out there then you are just as vulnerable as I am and amongst the dozens of other things that can happen to data I don;t feel the costs of Antivrus and system slowdowns justifies it. If I happen to get one...a trip down the PC shop and I can fix it up for cheap. |
