| Senior Member | Re: Lastest version of Avast antivirus Brink- Does the newer version improve virus detection? Avast by Alwil failed to detect 19 viruses, and had 1 false positive in April for Vista sp1. Virus Bulletin: April 2008 Vista sp1 test https://www.virusbtn.com/Session-be9...lts?vendor=VE9 |

| Guru | Re: Lastest version of Avast antivirus Every anti-virus solution has a window of time that miss new viruses. Are you sure your new package did not report some of the 19 as false positives. Avast Pro 4.8 detected the Antivirus XP 2008 virus and prevented it from taking over. It came from an e-mail from a friend who has the virus. I cleaned up my workstation and called him. I was able to delete it and not get it back. I have two laptops at offices in CA. AVG was on them. Latest version. Both had over 200 viruses detected with other scans. No program is perfect. Stay off of unknown sites and delete unknown e-mails. Don't download illegal crap from warez sites. You won't get as many viruses. |

| Member | Re: Lastest version of Avast antivirus I came across this issue earlier on today when i noticed that i had not received any VS (virus definition) updates and tried manually forcing VS and program updates “The license key for this product is temporarily disabled” Since updating to version 4.8.1195, avast! started to give me “The license key for this product is temporarily disabled” message and refuses to update. This happens for both iAVS (virus definition) and program updates. ![]() Solution To resolve the problem, please update to the latest version of avast! (4.8.1201 or later). However, since the installed program won’t allow you to perform the update, it is necessary to use the following procedure: 1. Visit the avast! download page (avast! Professional Edition download page or avast! Home Edition download page), and download the latest version of the program. Make sure to choose the same language version as the one installed. 2. Run the downloaded setup program 3. When asked, select “Update” and click Next. Then follow the on-screen instructions. This will update your avast! installation to the most up-to-date version, and eliminate the problem. €œThe license key for this product is temporarily disabled€ message appears during an update attempt - avast! Support Center By following the instuctions Avast is now fully functional ![]() |
