It probably is Norton. Remove it with the Norton removal tool. Replace it with either Avast, Avira(both are free) or NOD32(you gotta pay for this one)which is really the better of the 3. Then use Comodo fore a firewall. You should be able to access your shares normally then. It would not be the first time I've seen Norton cause this kind of problem.

    Good luck.

Its not your Norton, you need to reset all your permissions, and sharing permissions, removing Norton won't help, it your Network setup.

I use Norton with my Network and it works perfecly well.

Joel is a fanatical anti Norton, he'll tell you to remove it, whether it helps or not.

Oh removing Norton will definitly help. It will free up resourses hogged by it in the first place.

Norton works for some. But the second it starts acting up your better off dropping it. Some people have misplaced values when it comes to symantec products. As soon as they bite them where the sun dont shine their song will change.

    Good luck.

You see that proves that Joel is not up-to-date, the days of Norton hogging resources has passed, it has a very light footprint now,

But Joel wouldn't know that because he doesn't keep up-to-date sofware information.

I consider him a poor technician, who doesn't consider ALL the options, too hidebound.

No norton is still and always will be crap.

If the product was any good, then Jody Gibney senior product manager for Symantec/Norton Internet Security wouldn't have registered here, and under the disguise of a normal user and raved about how good the product was .

I have never had an issue with it, myself. I have been using Norton since the second edition of the program was put out back in 1996.

I'm afraid Norton is getting the boot.I've only tried it out this time as the first 2 months were free so its back to NOD.Never liked to old ones so I was willing to try the new this time but once a donkey always a donkey.
