I encountered some problems when i logged off and logged on again (my OS has several account) with not being able to play flash videos (such in youtube). When i last week received the computer i also saw that the sidebar wasn't working, but i didn't pay much attention to it. I didn't need it so i disable it. I also noticed that the running programs section in the taskbar was empty, the clock wasn't updated and the contents of the taskmanager wasn't updated.
I started a new thread "can't play flash videos" http://www.vistax64.com/general-disc...sh-videos.html in which i asked for help. Most of the advice was focussing on the flash components that provided the video playback. This is most understandable because that was what spawned the thread. But because of the other issues there was a growing suspicion that they might be all related to each other. I eventually found out that when i disable the kaspersky protection which was by default installed (trial version) on my system the problems disappeared. So i'm no trying to install a trial of norton instead and see if that is working well. If it is fine i buy a subscription to Norton. Thanks for all the help, i'll hope that my experience will help others with similar problems. daa skirdneh |

Norton? Talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire! I used to use Norton products for many years - until Vista was released. Symantec screwed up badly with their Vista support. Now I use Avast, which is free, and for me provides better than adequate protection and has no nasty side effects. (avast! antivirus - high security and protection from malware with anti-spyware and anti-rootkit software built in). Many people are also using AVG (also free) - AVG Free - Download antivirus and antispyware software for Windows XP and Vista |

I think there was a problem with how you configured your Kaspersky.
I've used it on Vista w/o ne problems.I think its better than Norton anyday but since Norton is working for you...stick with it. |
