Help from being hacked

Hello,

I am being hacked by someone very malicious. At one time there were 3 other PCs on my Norton map view and I have done enough research to find out that someone is using my internet connection with wireless devices.

I myself don't have any wireless devices and have only 1 PC so I know they are not mine. Now they have blocked me out of that page so I can't check if they are there or not. The phone company refuse to help me track them so I am desparately looking for someone who can help me do it myself. I don't have enough knowledge about computers to do it without advice.

I need to know how to find their IP so I can give it to the authorities and get it stopped. I'm so tired of reformatting every week or two because they mess with my system files etc...

If someone is using your internet connection and not helping you pay the bill they are a no good freeloader and I hope someone can tell both of us how to get rid of them!

Re: Help from being hacked

Can you give any more details about your connection/network?

Wireless devices can only access your network if you have a wireless access point broadcasting. Since you don't have any wireless devices yourself, there is no need to have a wireless access point broadcasting on your network - do you? If you are going through a wireless router then you should be able to configure it so that the wireless is turned off. That will stop any hacking on your network.

Re: Help from being hacked

....if you do have a wireless access point then you should secure it immediately - it's very easy to do and will eliminate your problem.

Turn off file sharing too.

Re: Help from being hacked

Ummm, guess what?

Your router came with an instruction book - if they have 'locked you out' from the settings page, then you can reset the router to factory defaults using the reset button on the back.

Then, if you are not running a wireless connection, ***TURN IT OFF***

Re: Help from being hacked

Which OS? Which anti-virus? If Vista, Is UAC enabled? Is firewall enabled? I would start by setting up security on your router. Change its password. Enable MAC filtering and only put in your MAC address. IPConfig/all from a command prompt will tell you it for your connection. Disable wireless, if you are not using it.

Re: Help from being hacked

why worry about the wireless security when he does not have a wireless device? just disable wireless and be done with it.
