Vista - Prevent Defender blocking Startup program

I run the Asus AI prpgram on startup. This is supposed to allow me to modify motherboard and CPU settings. However Defender will always prevent this program from running. There does not appear to be any way to tell defender to stop blocking this program at startup? Can anyone help.

Unblock it and go to defender and find and right click startup type and try that

Norm, does the program that makes those adjustment generate a UAC prompt? If so, only 2 things that you can do - wither get a startup delay application (WinPatrol includes it free, but there are others) or else disable UAC - and I always recommend against disabling UAC.

@johngalt, Yes it does generate a UAC prompt. I have noted your comment re: disabling UAC and agree. I might try setting the compatability to "administrator and see what that does? Thanks for the advice

Won't make a difference - if it needs elevated privileges, use WinPatrol (or another app) to delay the startup item - then you'll have no issues.

Alternatively, bug the heck out of the developer so he can have it start without the initial need for elevated privileges.

Finally, the final alternative is to just allow it to get blocked and then manually allow it every time. I usually do this with Secunia PSI, as it is still written with XP in mind (or so it seems, as you would think that a security vendor and researcher would at the very *least* know how to make Vista capable programs....
