So I accidentally downloaded an antivirus program that is really a virus.

It really sucks. Internet explorer refuses to work. Task manager has been disabled by the administrator. Any program that operates under windows explorer fails to run properly. This makes it very difficult to use the computer.

What exactly is wrong? Do I need to repair the registry? What if I did not make a backup?

This problem has been plaguing me for a long time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry but I don't know the name of the virus.

It's actually not really a virus, but a program that was installed to screw up my computer.

I'm having problems with a few things.

My system is running slower as a whole. Even when no programs are loaded, it is processing at a high rate.

IE does not work. I'm bombarded with sales of different antivirus software programs.

I think the only way we will solve this is with a hijack this log:confused:

maybe the slowing down of your system is not caused by a virus (although it is as well highly possible) are you doing frequent cleaning up?

Slowing down may also be due to piled up temporary IE files or cookies or you've saved a lot of files to your drive C:
