dll problem...i think?

Hi guys, im new to this forum and to vista. i ran into a problem this morning. here it goes

it all started after i downloaded a file and started to install it. first thing that happened was i got an error message saying g.exe couldn't be opened. so i closed it and thought it was funky for it to happen at the time. i also didn;t think it was a file of importance and we all know how windows is. so i figured a restart n i would be ok.

i restarted and i got a rundll error C:/windows/system32/ " the specified module could not be found" ( opnnnoMd.dll ) i did find the file after some searching in the syswow64 folder. and it had been modified around the same time i had the error of g.exe...so i did some searching bout g.exe and found it could be a virus....

i have norton ran an update and scan...found nothing

so i manually searched for g.exe nothing

ive restarted 3 times everytime it starts i get that dll error....what can i do (besides format)

Hey mate,

Try to do a Spyware S&D scan.
And you could also try to fix your Vist files by typing "sfc /scannow" in CMD.

Re: dll problem...i think?

funky thing says i have to be an administrator to run the scan but i am the admin...and im logged into my admin account (only account ive made).... do i need to change something?...ill look around and im downloading scan and destroy now....n get back with a post n a bit

i also ran 2 different register fix programs as i figured maybe when uninstalling something between restarts the reg got screwed...didnt help

Re: dll problem...i think?

You have to run it as administrator.

Start -> Accessories -> Command Prompt -> Right Click -> Run as Administrator
Or just type 'CMD' in start menu search, and then Right Click -> Run as Administrator.

Then you will be able to do a scan.

good news...spybot found a virus...well i guess its good news...man norton sucks a fatty. how is it some program thats got tons of programmers and bull**** behind it and that you pay for doesn;t find a virus that some freeware bull**** can find? i should walk my ass down to symantec and kick there ass and ask for a refund the virus it found was

virtumonde.prx

im gonna restart and see if that fixed my problem

if it did....what virus scanner do u guys suggest? or do i need to be using multiple scanners?...hope no one says norton

Check this thread out mate : Here

I personally recommend NOD32, but it's not free.
