| windows vista ultimate 32 bit | Problem with Vista running Norton antivrus Hi pretty lame w/ computers, I believe my HP system runs vista ultimate 32 and I have norton antivrus, I dont beleive I have changed any settings to cause the problem I now have, but now when I boot up I get a windows message saying my antivirus is turned off, and I open Norton and everything is running ok. Then I got to windows security settings and it says that windows cannot fund any antivirus software on my computer WTF?? BTW, I still have 38 days on my norton subscription. Any advice/ info on this would be greatly appreciated ! |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 TECHNET | Re: Problem with Vista running Norton antivrus Well, you can try to disable Norton and then reinitialize it or if you had made a backup of files and programs then you could uninstall Norton and all Symantec files and reinstall it. You probably might be able to download a trial version from Symantec. I personally use and recommend Avast Home Edition. It's a full Antivirus program and it's free. All you have to do is register it and you'll get a product key for a year, then after that just reregister it. Absolutely free, no nags, has an antispyware module and detects rootkits, etc. It works very well with Vista. I know that some will say one AV program is better than one other, It's all in what fits you. It wouldn't hurt to try it out.If you do however try another AV program, be sure to uninstall Norton and Symantec files. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Problem with Vista running Norton antivrus yeah i think the probelm is just norton anti-virus last time i had that installed i had no end of problems but like airbot went for a different anti-virus i chose nod32 brilliant software however does cost money like norton yet i have had zero problems since installation so a big thumbs up for them, just a pointer if you remove norton it doesn't like to be taken off from what i found i had files interfering for ages from that programme so be thorugh when removing. |
