Do i have a virus?? "Interactive services dialog detection"

This has happened before about a week and a half ago, but i have a dell studio 15 with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit, and this program message pops up with the title

"A program can't display a message on your desktop"- The program may need information or permission to complete a task.-

Program details:
Message title: Access to file was denied
Program path: Program Files/Network Associates/VirusScan/Res09?VshWin32.dll

When i clicked "Show me the message" my computer went to a gray screen (with older-themed windows looking message) there were two windows this time, one giving me the option to return and the other box showing a hand holding a moving green bug type thing, from what i remember it said this file is infected and needs to be deleted then replaced... it gave me a long list of about 8 or so options and i clicked 'delete' and nothing significant seemed to happen, because the 'delete' option was still there, so i clicked return and nothing had changed, my windows were still up and everything.

I use Norton 360 to protect my computer and scan it every sunday, it has never shown any sign of virus/malware infection. But i googled the problem and it keeps saying virus. Has this happened to anyone else?

please pleease help, this is a fairly new computer and i cant afford to lose it!!

Yeah, this sounds like a rouge program/malware.

Install Malwarebytes and run it, it is free. Also you can install RougeRemover from the same company, it should tell you if you have a rouge program on your computer. Some other good programs are A squared Free, Spybot SD, Spyware blaster. Avast is a good Antivirus program alternative. Run some of those antispyware programs and see what you get. Sometimes you can't trust just one program to catch everything.

Re: Do i have a virus?? "Interactive services dialog detection"

Hi Maverick,

You might want to checkout this: Ask the Performance Team : Application Compatibility - Session 0 Isolation

You received the Interactive Services Dialogue Detection message, Its a warning that a Service is trying to access your desktop session...Meaning a virus...

Some very, very old software from HP will cause this dialogue to show too: interactive services dialog detection

Since you said your using Norton360 and not Network Associates that means a virus is trying to access your antivirus thats not there

Is it possible that an occurence of McAfee is conflicting with Norton? Were you using McAfee before Norton 360? I know that when I had McAfee installed, I had a hard time completely removing it. But that was on a Windows 98 machine.

Maverick,

Just in case McAfee is the issue I found these two removal tools on the McAfee forums. McAfee Support Forums - Powered by vBulletin
