Multiple Spyware / virus apps at once

Hey all. I have BitDefender 2009 Internet Security running on my new computer. Quite pleased with it thus far, however it does not have anti-spyware. A lot of the anti-syware programs out there also have antivirus incorporated. Is it a problem to run these all on the same computer? Will there be conflicts between the programs that will leave my computer vulnerable?

Re: Multiple Spyware / virus apps at once

Hi Brunswick2.

You really should only have one major Antivirus installed and monitoring, so you don't have any conflicts that may interfere with successful operation. But, some antispyware programs can be pretty good and a lot will have real time monitoring if you pay for it. They will usually run pretty good along side your major antivirus. I know that windows defender does, A squared, Malwarebytes, Spybot SD. Spybot SD has free real time protection called the "tea timer" and it is pretty good actually. The above mentioned are all free to have and manually run but spybot is the only one with RTP out of these.
I know that you have Bitdefender but if you ever want to give it a try, Avast Home is free and has a antispyware module and rootkit detector with it also. You usually can have a couple AS running with your AV without any problems.
