Vista - How to install antivirus?

This is going to sound dumb when installing a new anti virus do you install and update the new then uninstall the old or the other way around? The old is Norton 360 the new will be either AVG 8.0 FREE or Avast 4 HOME any opinions on which one will be helpful.

Your best bet is to go ahead and download (if you have not already done so) both the AVG you want installed *and* the Norton removal tool from Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

now, turn off your Internet (to help prevent any random drive bys as you perform the uninstall - you can disconnect the cable if you're using Ethernet (aka wired) or disable your wireless adapter if you're using wireless) then run the removal tool - follow the prompts carefully - then perform the reboot as required.

Then run the tool again to be sure.

Finally, install AVG, and *then* enable your Internet connection.
