What does overcompressed mean?

BitDefender reported that it did not scan 8 items. Following is one of those items and all 8 were in the same location:

C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\MBSA\2.1\Cache\wsusscn2.cab=]package6.cab=]c\530385"> > threatType="Unknown"threatName="Overcompressed" action="none" finalStatus=
> "not scanned" error= "no action possible"/>

I'm sure there is no threat here, but this was never picked up before. I've had BitDefender 2008 since June, but did upgrade to BD 2009 tonight. What I'd like to know is, should I be concerned about this?

Thank you

Re: What does overcompressed mean?

Yes, I do. I had forgotten about it and haven't run it for ages. If I uninstall it will that solve the problem?

Since I haven't run it for ages, I wonder why BitDefender never had a problem with it before?

Re: What does overcompressed mean?

If you uninstalled it then it probably would go away but it's not going to hurt anything if you just leave it. I don't think it's harmful. You can clean your temp files with something like CCleaner and then run Bitdefender and see if it doesn't pick it up anymore.

Re: What does overcompressed mean?

I have CCleaner and just ran it. But what puzzles me is why would there be temp files in there since it's a program I haven't even had open forever? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I'm trying to learn something through my probelms.

Re: What does overcompressed mean?

I have no idea, perhaps some recent Bitdefender update has caused BD to pick it up suddenly, that would be my guess. You can run a scan with Malwarebytes as well if you're concerned about any malware BD isn't picking up.

Re: What does overcompressed mean?

Thanks for your help. Now I have another problem.

I want to completely disable the anti spam feature in BitDefender. Tech told me to start in safe mode, go to C/Program Files/BitDefender, find a certain file and rename it. When I right click to rename, the little timer comes up and that's where it stays. Everything just freezes and I have to force a shut down. Any ideas on this?
