why does none of my security software update

none of my security software doesn't update itself for some reason like kaspersky,windows update,windows defender
it says there's an update but it doesnt update it any ideas

Well if you want windows defender to update itself you have to have Windows Update set to automatic download and install in the Security Center in the control panel. As for Kapersky I don't know, I don't use it.It should have an automatic update option in it's options tab.
