Vista - windows defender error 0x80508017 help

Hi i recently did an automotive defender scan and at the end i got settings modifier
alert level medium
action taken clean date 11/3/09 . status error en counted

i found a site after googling the error 0x80508017 REG CURE but it isn't compatible with vista 64 .If i scroll down the page of the defender scan i see resources that says .c:\windows\winsxs\amd64_Microsoft -windows -wnfrastructure- other_31bf3856ad364e35_6.0.6000.16386_none_5e6cdbf5b2cd56c
b\hosts

has anyone else had this problem and do you know what caused the error thanks rob.

Hi Rob,

Try scanning with Spybot and Malwarebytes;
The home of Spybot-S&D!
Malwarebytes.org

After they are finished and anything found is removed try defender again

Hi pooch i ran malware bytes ,spybot search and destroy ,and nothing there ,i ran defender again and no malicious software was found thanks heaps seem to be ok now

I don't see the reason why you have to use "Wds Defender"..Its a 'bos" ....
Its SLOWS your system down......way down...
Malwarebite and superAntispyware and much better.
