Manual AV scanning files

I just bought a notebook pc running vista home premium x64 and it seems that I can't right click on a file and select to manually scan it. The computer came with a subscription to Norton AV and I first thought that maybe that was just something that Norton's software didn't have available, but I uninstalled that and replaced it with Avira. Once again still no option in the context menu when right clicking to scan selected file.

Is this just something that I can't do with Vista or am I just missing something stupid.

If someone could offer some insight I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've been reading the forums here for the past few weeks since I started using Vista and it's been an awesome resource.

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. :)

mmmmmmmmm seems odd i have the option with Eset Nod32 maybe you need to turn the right click context menu on in your AV software?

edit... after a quick google it seems the option for it in Norton is disabled for a 64 bit OS , maybe its because nortons av isnt a true 64 bit program , whereas my eset is
