Vista - Mcafee Security Center will not work after System Restore

I am currently using Vista Home Premium. I had a problem with one of the current updates and had to use system restore. After the restore everything worked fine except that Mc Afee Security would no longer function, with the exception of the Firewall. Mc Afee indicated that the secuerity center was more than 30 days out of date. My system restore was set for less than 24 hours. Is this a normal situation and is there any way to prevent it in the future?

hi richc46, i had a similar problem a couple of years ago with norton (when i was still silly enough to try and persist with norton) it would disable everything except the firewall as well as uninstall all of the updates. thier solution was to disable nortons self defense mode before doing a system restore. i dont know if the same would be applicabile for mc afee as i have never used mc afee. hopefully someone who is familar with the software can shed some more light on the problem, all the best.

Uninstall Mcafee completely from your system , reboot the computer and then run the MCafee Cleanup tool ( search from google) , reboot again and then reinstall MCafee. That will solve.

I had the same problem with my McAfee Total Security on the January. The solution was exactly the same as MSDOS suggested.
