I am in the same boat as mowh. I use and trust Avira, but have no experience with Avast. With any aggressive a/v you'll get false positives, but, in my book, it's better to err to the conservative than the liberal when it comes to system security.

yes i do like that, and i also like the fact that it has more options that Avira and does not have that annoying pop-up that Avira does

Re: Avast Antivirus Home Edition OR Avira AntiVir Personal

I use the free edition of Avira. Been good to me for almost 2 months. I know...the pop-up ad that you see when you receive an update can get to be a pain...if you let it. But the code writers would like you to purchase the upgrade to personal. They work hard to make it what it is...a really good product for free or for $$.

Re: Avast Antivirus Home Edition OR Avira AntiVir Personal

i know but a pop-up to get me to upgrade is not going to get me to upgrade it is going to get me to uninstall it and go with a different program.

if you want me to upgrade think of something else like more features or long term benefits.
